Phillip L. Nelsen
Phillip Nelsen is a graduate of the University of Idaho College of Law. Practicing primarily in the areas of estate planning, business and regulatory compliance law. Phillip has experience representing clients in a wide variety of legal issues including National Firearm Act compliance matters, real estate development projects, criminal and civil litigation, among others. Prior to accepting a position at Nelsen Law Offices, P.C. Phillip was a municipal prosecutor in Washington.
Phillip has been certified and served as an expert witness for firearm related litigation and retained to teach Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars. Phillip speaks at legal conferences throughout the United States on topics ranging from firearm laws to entrepreneurship and has written and published a 50 state firearm law guide book that has sold over 100,000 copies in traditional and digital format.
Outside of the practice of law, Phillip co-founded and grew one of the largest specialty training firms in America, growing it from a single location in 2008 to over 50 locations in 17 states by 2014. In August 2014 Phillip’s training firm was acquired by an out of state investment group as part of a large asset purchase transaction. This purchase freed up substantially more time for Phillip to dedicate to his law practice.
Current member of the Utah Bar Association (Admitted in 2012) and U.S. District Court for the District of Utah Bar. Current member of the National Contract Management Association.

Jason K. Nelsen
Jason K. Nelsen is a graduate of Brigham Young University (B.A. 1998) and Creighton University School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 2001). While in law school, he served as a Student Articles Editor for the Creighton Law Review. On three occasions (2005, 2010 and 2011), Jason K. Nelsen has been named as one of “Utah’s Legal Elite™” by Utah Business Magazine. In 2013 and 2014, Jason K. Nelsen was also named a “Rising Star” in the Real Estate category by Super Lawyer’s® Magazine.
Practicing primarily in the areas of real estate, corporate, commercial litigation, estate planning and contract law. Jason has extensive experience representing clients in a wide variety of transactional, administrative and litigation matters. Serving as lead counsel in drafting and negotiating complex contracts for transactions as large as $50,000,000, including corporate acquisitions, real estate leases and purchases, asset purchase and sale and commercial finance transactions. Providing written legal opinions on the enforceability of contracts in high value transactions. Actively representing clients in multi-million dollar commercial litigation in state and federal courts. Has obtained commercial litigation judgments for clients in excess of $3,500,000. Routinely analyzes state and federal laws to counsel clients on regulatory compliance issues. Assists clients with the development and refinement of processes and procedures to remain in compliance with complex government regulations. Providing advice, strategic input and direction on a daily basis to clients’ officers and senior management. Assisting clients with the maintenance of corporate minute books, state business qualifications and associated licenses and permits. Current member of the Utah Bar Association (Admitted in 2002) and Idaho Bar Association (Admitted in 2012) and U.S. District Court for the District of Utah Bar (2002). Inactive member of the Nebraska State Bar Association (Admitted in 2001).
